Protect Your Pet's Smile
At Belmont Avenue Veterinary Hospital in Perth, we understand that our pets' dental health is crucial to their overall well-being. As you visit the dentist to ensure a healthy smile, your furry companions deserve proper dental care. Dental disease affects a significant number of dogs and cats, with more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats developing dental issues by age 3. It's not just a matter of oral discomfort; dental problems can lead to serious health issues.
Common signs of dental disease include:
Even if your beloved dog or cat doesn't show any symptoms, it's essential to prioritise their dental health. We recommend annual dental check-ups with our experienced veterinarians. Dental problems often go unnoticed, but bacteria and food debris can accumulate around their teeth, leading to soft tissue and bone deterioration. This can progress to irreversible periodontal disease, tooth loss, and the need for costly oral surgery. Additionally, untreated dental issues can impact other organs, causing infections in the kidneys, liver, lungs, and heart. Regular check-ups allow us to catch and address these issues early, ensuring your pet's well-being.
At Belmont Avenue Veterinary Hospital, we provide comprehensive dental care for your pets. Our state-of-the-art dental base allows for professional scaling and polishing and pain-free extractions when necessary. This advanced equipment minimises your pet's time under general anaesthesia, which is especially crucial for older pets with dental disease.
